The Sights and Sounds of Spring: Bluebell Woods Reminiscent

There is nothing quite like awakening to the smell and sound of a gentle rain, especially a Spring one. It is the rhythms of rain beating against the thirsty ground, or the sudden rush of increased speed as rain falls that soothes the mind. It deafens the clamor of rushing thoughts and accusations of things yet to be done.

I am reminded of the many violet–blue flowers in “bluebell woods” visited while living in England. On our frequent wandering walks through Oxfordshire, we often stumbled upon an exquisite bluebell meadow. A breathtaking wonder of tall trees, overshadowing a damp blanket of serene blue hovering the ground below.  What a delightful eye-catching sight.

It’s a reminder as well, that rain is an experience more than sight, smell or sound; it brings a refreshment needed for the Spring growth of plants and trees – those thirsting for the needed drink that will nourish the roots and cause the growth brought about with the new season of Spring.

Our lives are much the same.  We are not always aware of our need for quenching thirst until a glass of summer ice tea stimulates our sense of need.

Many may not recognize we have spiritual needs as well. Some choose not to believe in the spiritual aspects to life. Or, more simply put, ignore them completely.

There is a reason we enjoy the beauty of nature. Many feel closer to God who is mistakenly less defined in our modern culture. This awareness of a presence of God invites us into a place of discovery. Like outstretched branches to sunshine we can receive all that is needed for our own spiritual thirst and season in life. He renews and refreshes us as a result.

May we be like Job, “My root is spread out and open to the waters, and the dew lies all night upon my branch.”Job 29:19 AMP)

It is in these precise moments we capture an experience of the dew of Heaven which renews and refreshes us as well.
